Statement regarding the mass killing of civilians by military terrorist group

1. The heinous massacre is included while the military terrorist group intentionally and widely commits human rights violations and various international crimes throughout Myanmar. The National Unity Government's Ministry of Human Rights has systematically documented the military terrorists' mass killings of civilians, which began in July 2021 and have worsened since the end of 2022.

2. Despite the fact that the military terrorist group began the violent killings of civilians since the attempted coup period on February 1, 2021, the data shows that on July 11, 2021, the military began the mass killing of more than five civilians in Yinn village in Kani township, Sagaing Region by massacring (34) innocent civilians. The ministry was able to gather evidence that there were 64 mass killings of innocent civilians between July 2021 and March 13, 2023. A total of (766) civilians were massacred in these (64) mass killings of more than five innocent civilians. Those killed civilians included (482) males and (78) females, with the remaining (206) dead bodies not being able to be classified by gender. Among the (559) unclassified dead bodies were (42) elders over the age of sixty and (62) children under the age of eighteen.

3. Among the above- mentioned incidents, the airstrikes on October 23, 2022 (in A Nang Pa village in Hpa-kant township, Kachin State) was the worst mass killing with approximately (80) civilians brutally massacred. Sagaing region was recorded as the highest mass killing area, with over (46) massacres of more than five civilians occurred and (449) civilians killed.

4. Because those heinous and inhuman mass killings are international crimes, the Ministry of Human Rights will continue to work in various ways to prevent and to take the actions against the perpetrators.

The international community need to prevent the heinous mass killings committed by the military terrorist group and must take effective and efficient actions to prosecute the perpetrators. At the same time, we call for immediate international humanitarian assistance for civilians from the mass killing areas who are facing burnings, airstrikes, and heavy weapon attacks by military terrorist group.
