Statement on the violent tortures inside prisons

  3. The unjustly detained civilians have been violently beaten and locked up in The cell blocks for 20-40 days without access to medical treatment. And the Political detainees are forced to perform hard labor.
  4. The Ministry of Human Rights of the National Unity Government is documenting the human rights violations with the aim of holding perpetrators accountable. The ministry continues to keep a close monitoring on the violence directed at unjustly detained civilians inside prisons across the country. The documents on human rights violations are being submitted to the respective UN organizations and the international investigation mechanisms as the ministry strives to bring about justice through international mechanisms. The perpetrators, who have committed human rights violations must be punished according to the law. The culture of impunity for perpetrators who committed human rights violations must end.
  5. The Ministry of Human Rights strongly urges the cessation of violence Against unjustly arrested civilians who have been detained for exercising their political rights, including freedom of expression, and thus calls for the exceptional release of all political detainees.

The ministry calls on the International Committee of the Red Cross-ICRC for The utmost protection and assistance of unjustly arrested civilians inside the Prison and victims of human rights violations inside the prison. And the ministry urges the international community to call for an independent investigation into the human rights violations and other violence inside the prisons and to hold the perpetrators who committed the human rights violations accountable. The Ministry of Human Rights continues to document the human rights violations by close monitoring in order to hold perpetrators accountable.
